PRIVATE PAY

There are many benefits to using private pay for psychotherapy.  I strongly encourage my clients to use private pay rather than insurance for the following reasons.

  •  No diagnosis given - When using insurance in order to be reimbursed for the services I will have to provide a diagnosis regarding the reason you are seeking help.  Sometimes the diagnosis can follow you throughout your life and could possibly hinder career opportunities.  Many times insurance will not cover and therefore not pay for relationship issues or self-growth/improvement.  When a client uses private pay instead of insurance I will not have to give a diagnosis.

  • Broader Services - Many times in my career I have attended school IEP, 504, and ARD meetings with my clients.  I also provide school observations and interventions.  These services are not covered by insurance.  Many times insurance companies or plans will only cover an individual session and not couples or families which can limit treatment greatly.  In addition, most insurance companies limit the number of sessions that they will allow based on what they see fit regardless of what might actually be needed to benefit the client.  If a client uses private pay I have more flexibility to meet the needs of my clients and provide the best care possible.

  • Greater Confidentiality - In any therapeutic relationship there is confidentiality however when a client uses insurance and a diagnosis is given many employees within the insurance company have access to your records and diagnosis.  Sometimes insurance companies require progress reports or updates of the presenting problem, outcome of treatment, and prognosis in order to authorize additional sessions.  With private pay, you have greater confidentiality over your treatment and can sign releases if there are any other professionals that you would like me to work with to help with your treatment.

Insurance
I currently accept the following insurance plans

               TriCare/TriWest

If you would like to use your insurance I can provide you with a superbill (invoice) to submit directly to insurance for reimbursement. Please note that any time you utilize insurance a medical diagnosis must be provided which becomes part of your permanent record.

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.  Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Reduced Fee
Reduced fee services are available on a limited basis. The reduced fee amount will be determined by monthly income and number of dependents

Cal VCB

If you have been a victim of a crime you may qualify for California Victims Compensation to cover the cost of services.  I hold a limited number of CalVCB slots due to the nature of trauma therapy and additional services and support needed.  This allows me to provide you with the best care possible.

Payment
Cash, check, Flex spending/HSA, Zelle, PayPal, and all major credit cards accepted for payment.

Cancellation Policy
